Tripp Creek is a neighborhood located in the West Animas Valley of Durango, characterized by its serene and private atmosphere. The neighborhood consists of approximately eight lots, each ranging from 2 to 6 acres in size. This community, which originated in 1983 and expanded in the mid-1990s, is nestled north of Trimble Lane and south of Hermosa, on the west side of County Road 203. The area is served by Animas Valley Elementary, Miller Middle School, and Durango High School. There is no Metro District in Tripp Creek, but a mandatory Homeowners Association (HOA) is in place.
The neighborhood's landscape is marked by heavily timbered hillsides, with properties on the west side adjoining the San Juan National Forest. This arrangement allows for a high degree of privacy, as homes are sufficiently spaced apart and shielded by trees and the terrain. The only access to the neighborhood is via a gated entrance and a single road that ends in a cul-de-sac. The natural vegetation primarily consists of Ponderosa pine trees and Gamble oak.
Tripp Creek's location offers several advantages, including close proximity to Trimble Hot Springs and the Dalton Ranch Golf Course, which is just across Highway 550. The lots in this area provide opportunities for solar exposure and afford views of Missionary Ridge across the Valley. The neighborhood's secluded and natural setting, combined with the conveniences of nearby amenities, makes it a desirable location for those seeking a blend of privacy and accessibility in Durango.
